Under new laws imposed by the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation, consuming alcohol in Sunshine’s central business area is now officially forbidden the Brimbank Leader has reported.

‘Brimbank Police Inspector Dave Byrt said a proposal to make Sunshine’s CBD a ‘designated area’, where consuming liquor or possessing an open container of alcohol was forbidden, had been successful.
After being approved by the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation, the nominated area will include parts of city surrounded by Ballarat Rd, Hampshire Rd, Sun Crescent and the Sunshine train station.
He said police and Brimbank Council would launch a public education program and erect signage before enforcement began in earnest.’
